DSDM Atern

Agile

“Agile” Project Management is increasing in popularity and NES AIM Academy are delighted to offer this as part of our Project Management Portfolio. The term ‘agile’ refers to a family of methods and processes that are lighter, leaner and more flexible than more traditional approaches such as PRINCE2™, PMI/PMBOK and APM which are often seen as heavyweight and ‘waterfall’.

The agility comes from using iterative and collaborative approaches which can readily adapt to change whilst moving away from document driven approaches.

DSDM Atern is one of the most established agile methods having been around for over a decade. It is comprised of a set of guiding principles, a lifecycle, a set of products, a set of roles and responsibilities and guidance on several key techniques to use on any project.

These all work together in order to deliver business benefit to an organisation as early as possible.

DSDM Atern is a true project framework and can scale up or down according to the needs of a project. It is a commonly held view that most small lightweight agile methods do not scale up past a team of four or five people.

DSDM Atern provides an option for many people responsible for the control and governance of projects and programmes. It provides an agile option which they can put in their toolbox of approaches and stay current with the best practice of the day.

DSDM Atern incorporates seemlessly with PRINCE2™ to create a powerful agile approach with strong governance and control and brings more delivery focus into PRINCE2™ and in turn PRINCE2™ provides that comfort factor for people wishing to move to agile but keen to do this in a structured and rigorous way.

NES AIM Academy are pleased to announce that we are now working in strategic partnership with Keith Richards Consulting to be able to offer fully accredited DSDM Atern training events.
